MCI delivers coaches to B.C., Yukon, St. Louis
St. Louis-based Holiday Tours' coach features seating for 50 passengers and clean-diesel engine technology.
[IMAGE]ABC2-1.jpg[/IMAGE]The Shriners of British Columbia and Yukon took delivery of a new MCI J4500 that will be used to transport children receiving treatment at the Shriners Hospital for Children.
The new coach, which features a wheelchair lift as well as a video entertainment system and 110-volt outlets for laptops and medical devices, is the fifth coach in the Shriners Care Cruiser fleet. All are MCIs.
The BC Shriners organization bought its first MCI in 2001. Each coach travels anywhere from 300 to 550 miles a day, six days a week, and the fleet moves about 3,500 passengers a year. Since the program started in 2001, Harrison estimates more than 23,000 patients and family members have ridden aboard the Care Cruisers.

Holiday's latest J4500 features seating for 50 passengers, and clean-diesel engine technology. The coach is equipped with a Cummins ISM 10.8-liter, 410 hp engine and an Allison B500 6-speed automatic transmission. It also carries a Blaupunkt/Bosch Proline Enhanced A/V system, tray tables and nets, and 110-volt outlets at every seat with companion Wi-Fi throughout the coach.
