Labor deal prevents L.A. transit strike
LOS ANGELES — In what is being called a historic accord, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) has entered into a three-year tentative agreement with its bus drivers and mechanics. WASHINGTON, D.C. — A contract with Chevy Chase Bank to provide ATMs at 36 Metrorail transit stations is bringing in nearly $90,000 a month for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas Monorail ridership and farebox revenues were down in May, 14% and 17% respectively, compared to April’s numbers, causing even more woes for the monorail system that was launched in 2004.
