Cincinnati Metro Names New VP, Operations

William Spraul will be responsible for delivering Metro’s fixed-route, Access Paratransit, and MetroNow! on-demand services to ensure operational excellence.

Effective Sept. 5, William Spraul will be re-joining Cincinnati Metro as its new VP, operations, according to the agency's news release.

In this role, Spraul will be responsible for delivering Metro’s fixed-route, Access Paratransit, and MetroNow! on-demand services. This includes oversight of Metro’s operations staff and operators, as well as the Customer Care Center, Safety & Security, Risk and Performance Management departments.

“I love helping people become successful and mentoring the next generation of transit leaders,” said Spraul. “I am very excited to be coming back home to Metro and I look forward to bringing new ideas to the table that will help us all get to the next level.”

Spraul's Career

Spraul has more than 35 years of transit operations management experience specializing in fixed-route transportation, maintenance, and paratransit in both the private and public sectors.

He most recently served as region VP for Transdev North America, in addition to serving in transit leadership roles that include COO at the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System. He began his transit career with Metro in 1982 as a fleet manager and served in maintenance and operations-related roles during his 30-year career at the agency, including leading the agency’s fixed-route service as director, transit operations.

His leadership will be impactful as we continue working to reinvent Metro for the future,” said John Ravasio, Metro COO. “His previous years at Metro effectively position him to get a running start in this role as he knows our people, our processes, and most importantly the importance of delivering safe, reliable, and quality service to our community each and every trip.”
