Prevost vehicles to be equipped with Volvo engines
Current supplier Detroit Diesel to focus on Daimler AG brands.
Prevost will begin offering Volvo engines in its products due to current supplier Detroit Diesel's move to focus solely on Daimler AG brands.
Daimler AG, parent company of Detroit Diesel, plans to discontinue selling Detroit Diesel engines to companies outside of the Daimler family. Beginning in 2010 Detroit Diesel will no longer be active in the motorcoach market in North America.
Per a signed agreement, Detroit Diesel will continue to support all Prevost vehicles equipped with Detroit Diesel engines. This announcement will accelerate Prevost’s strategy to offer Volvo engines to the various coach markets that it serves.
Volvo is a global provider of heavy-duty diesel engines, featured in North America in Prevost coaches, Volvo coaches, Mack trucks and Volvo construction equipment. Prevost is in the process of identifying and providing bus-specific training for the service centers that will best suit its customers. All service centers will be fully qualified to work on Volvo engines.
