RideScout acquires GlobeSherpa to advance mobile payment ticketing

RideScout, the leading mobile app that allows users to search and compare ground transportation options on demand, today announced they have acquired GlobeSherpa, a market leader in mobile solutions for public transportation with mobile book-and-pay ticketing in several major U.S. markets, such as Portland, San Francisco and Chicago. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, and the transactions were completed on June 29, 2015.
With the integration of GlobeSherpa’s transit mobile ticketing technology, RideScout is making significant advancements with their access, booking, and payment options, according to the company. As RideScout begins to integrate GlobeSherpa’s technology, users will be able to see all transportation options on their mobile device, select the one they want, and pay for the ride, or access it, with just a few taps. GlobeSherpa will also continue to bring mobile ticketing to transit agencies across the U.S. and beyond, according to company officials.

GlobeSherpa is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of RideScout, with operations remaining in Portland, Ore. CEO Nat Parker will continue to lead the company with current staff. This new partnership gives GlobeSherpa added resources and capabilities to expand in North America and internationally.
RideScout is led by CEO Joseph Kopser and COO Craig Cummings, who founded the company in 2011. Offering more than 300 mobility providers for users to choose from a one-stop mobile application, RideScout is available in 69 cities in North America.
The service is a flexible, reservation-based transit service designed to close the first- and last-mile gaps and connect riders to employment for just $5 per day.
