The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced the availability of $3.5 million in Fiscal Year 2021 competitive grant funding for projects that improve access to services for older adults and people with disabilities, and in low-income communities, according to the administration's press release.
The FTA’s Innovative Coordinated Access and Mobility (ICAM) pilot program supports public transportation projects that improve state and regional coordination. The program will help advance the goals of the President’s executive order on Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government.
“These grants will help ensure more members of the community, especially older Americans, people with disabilities and others with limited mobility, have an easier time getting to where they need to go,” said Pete Buttigieg, U.S. Transportation Secretary.
Applications for Fiscal Year 2021 funding will be evaluated based on criteria outlined in the Notice of Funding Opportunity in the Federal Register. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time Dec. 6.
“Everyone should have access to reliable, affordable public transportation,” said Nuria Fernandez, FTA administrator. “This funding opportunity will enhance transit agencies’ reach for all residents, particularly those who rely on public transportation to access jobs, health care, and other important services.”
In Fiscal Year 2020, FTA selected 17 projects to receive a portion of $3.5 million in funding.
