ABA unveils motorcoach security assessment

The independently-commissioned, industry-wide assessment includes training curriculum and videos for ABA operator members.

The American Bus Association (ABA) announced the release of an independently-commissioned, industry-wide security assessment that includes training curriculum and videos for ABA operator members. "We view the creation and implementation of this security plan as a way to insure confidence in motorcoach travel for our passengers and employees at a time when all modes of transportation are undergoing scrutiny," said ABA President and CEO, Peter J. Pantuso. The security materials are intended to outline a number of measures that operators can implement and provide training videos and materials for bus operation employees. The materials also suggest strategic partnerships that operators might forge at the local level in order to ensure the swiftest possible response to any terrorist threat or incident involving motorcoaches. The security products are being reviewed by the ABA board this week, for distribution to ABA member operators in the weeks ahead.
