Amtrak has resumed its passenger service after a systemwide shutdown Tuesday in the wake of the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C. In a statement Tuesday evening, Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta said travelers will see increased security measures, including "higher levels of surveillance and more stringent searches" at rail stations, airports and other travel venues.
