STV signed a contract with the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) to support the replacement of five traction power substations (TPSS) crucial for powering the agency’s electric-powered trolley system.
The project team, led by STV as the overall task lead and subconsultant to Chen Ryan Associates, will design plans to replace the existing TPSS while minimizing impacts and delays to the system, maintaining the operational efficiency of MTS’s extensive 65-mile track network, and keeping the system’s 300,000 weekday trips on schedule.
STV will provide comprehensive systems, civil, and structural engineering services for the traction power site layout design, substation building foundations, and retaining walls.
Vicinity Motor Corp. received new follow-on purchase orders from two Québec, Canada transit operators for three Vicinity Classic buses.
Per the terms of the supply agreements, Robert Paquette Autobus et Fils Inc. ordered one, and Les Autobus Transcobec Inc. ordered two Vicinity Classic Clean Diesel buses, which will be in service with Canadian public transit agency EXO.
The Vicinity Classic buses — for delivery in 2025 — will service the communities of Mirabel and Saint-Jérôme.

Pennsylvania’s IndiGO (Indiana County Transit Authority) is set to rollout a contactless payment method in partnership with Modeshift. This new system will allow passengers to use a mobile-ticketing platform, making it easy to pay fares by simply tapping their credit card when boarding.
The upgraded online and mobile platform aims to streamline the ticketing process, making it effortless for riders to plan and pay for their trips with a few taps on their phones.
This collaboration with Modeshift is set to transform the commuting experience, offering a smooth and convenient way for passengers to handle their travel needs digitally.
IndiGO is joining other Pennsylvania transit agencies like Crawford Area Transit Authority and Hazelton Public Transit in adopting this system, which has already been proven to enhance rider convenience.
