Alstom to Deliver 313 New Railcars for VIA Rail Canada

Alstom signed an agreement with VIA Rail Canada to design, engineer, manufacture, and support a new Long Distance, Regional, and Remote (LDRR) fleet that will shape the future of passenger rail mobility across Canada.

The agreement includes the delivery of 313 Adessia railway cars, valued at approximately $2.9 billion, and a 15-year Technical Support and Spare Parts Supply Agreement (TSSSA), valued at nearly $506 million, for a total value of $3.4 billion.

Designed, engineered, and manufactured in Canada, the new Adessia rail cars will expand opportunities for regional and remote travelers, including many First Nations communities, and are built to withstand the country’s extreme climate.

The cars will retain the iconic look and feel people love and cherish while integrating the world-class experience travelers expect today. Replacing 77-year-old cars with a modern fleet will set new standards for passenger comfort, universal accessibility, digital connectivity, and sustainability.

New Flyer to Supply Denver RTD Artics

Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD) announced an order from New Flyer of America Inc. (New Flyer) for 47 Xcelsior 60-foot clean-diesel heavy-duty transit buses. The order has been added to New Flyer’s second-quarter 2026 backlog.

The contract also includes options for up to 80 additional 60-foot buses (160 equivalent units, or EUs), which the city may exercise in the future.

The articulated buses will support RTD’s, the City of Denver’s, and the City of Aurora’s East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, one of the Denver region’s largest transit investments, with passenger service anticipated to begin in early 2028.

Designed to improve passenger flow and accessibility along the high-capacity corridor, the buses will feature a three-door configuration for faster boarding and alighting, level boarding to improve accessibility and reduce dwell times, and interior bicycle racks to support multimodal travel, officials said.

CCW Completes C-TRAN Fleetwide Driver Barrier Project

Complete Coach Works (CCW) announced the successful completion of its driver barrier installation project for C-TRAN. The project included supplying and installing Wabtec Vapor vShield Operator Protection Barriers on 113 buses across C-TRAN's fleet.

CCW teams installed the barriers at C-TRAN's maintenance facility in Vancouver, Washington, completing the project across multiple Gillig and New Flyer bus models. Each barrier was custom-fit to the vehicle and installed to meet C-TRAN's specifications and transit industry safety standards.

The completed installation reflects CCW's continued commitment to supporting transit agencies with fleet upgrade solutions that improve safety, increase vehicle value, and keep buses operating reliably in service, company officials said.

Beep Closes Series B to Accelerate Commercial Deployment

Beep Inc. announced the close of a Series B funding round, bringing its total capital raised to approximately $130 million. Mobileye, a global supplier of autonomous vehicle technology and advanced driver-assistance systems, led the round, with participation from existing investors.

The new capital will help Beep scale and expand its mobility-as-a-service offerings, deepen its work with technology and public-sector partners, and accelerate deployment of its AI-driven AutonomOS platform, which builds upon Beep's years of expertise as an AV operator to reduce the complexity required for the management and orchestration of Physical AI networks in transportation.

Mobileye’s investment reflects a shared strategic vision for bringing a range of models of autonomous mobility from fixed-route services to on-demand microtransit to commercial scale in the US in response to clear customer demand, the company said.

Beep officials said the round marks both a financial milestone and a validation of the company's position as the essential transit partner for modern mobility, delivering real-world autonomous service operations enabled by leading-edge technology.

Transdev, Greater Hartford Transit Extend Paratransit Partnership

Transdev renewed its contract with Greater Hartford Transit (GHT) to continue providing paratransit transportation services throughout the Greater Hartford, Connecticut region.

The renewed agreement began July 1 and includes a three-year base term with two additional one-year extension options, continuing a partnership that has delivered safe, reliable, and accessible transportation for more than two decades.

Under the contract, Transdev will continue to provide turnkey paratransit operations, including reservations, scheduling, dispatch, and full call center services utilizing scheduling software. The operation delivers approximately 40,000 passenger trips each month and serves residents throughout Hartford and the surrounding communities.

Transdev has been providing paratransit services for GHT since 2005, when the operation first launched under Laidlaw Transit. The current renewal marks a step forward, bringing the partnership to 26 years of continuous service by the end of the contract term.

FlixBus Expands Access to Quebec Through Strategic Collaboration

Through a strategic marketing, digital distribution, and ticketing collaboration between FlixBus and Autobus Maheux, customers in Quebec will be able to book Autobus Maheux's existing Montréal–Laval–Gatineau–Ottawa service through the FlixBus website and app.

Autobus Maheux remains the operator of the Montréal–Laval–Gatineau–Ottawa service, which offers four daily trips in each direction, seven days a week, connecting Montréal, Laval, Gatineau and Ottawa through six convenient stops, including Gare d'autocars de Montréal, Metro Cartier, Station de la Cité, Place du Portage, Waller Street and St. Laurent.

The collaboration brings together Autobus Maheux's nearly 70 years of transportation expertise in Quebec with FlixBus' travel technology platform and extensive North American network to give passengers greater visibility of travel options, convenient online booking and expanded access to destinations beyond the Montréal–Laval–Gatineau–Ottawa corridor.

The collaboration with Autobus Maheux marks the first time the FlixBus platform has been available for domestic intercity travel within Quebec. By combining Autobus Maheux's local transportation expertise with FlixBus' technology and distribution capabilities, the collaboration creates new opportunities for travelers to connect journeys between Quebec, Ontario, and destinations throughout the broader FlixBus network.

LAVTA/Wheels Selects LYT for Cloud-Based TSP

California’s Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA), operator of Wheels bus service, selected LYT to modernize transit signal priority across the Tri Valley region, following a multi-city evaluation conducted with an engineering consultant and staff from Livermore, Dublin, and Pleasanton.

The five-year agreement, authorized by LAVTA's board, will bring LYT's cloud-based platform to 67 intersections, including 33 in Livermore, 26 in Dublin, and eight in Pleasanton, with a planned expansion to support LAVTA's full fleet of 68 buses.

The project is centered on Rapid routes 10R and 30R, which connect riders to BART, the Livermore Transit Center and ACE Station, and major employment centers throughout Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore. When a qualifying bus approaches a signal, LYT's platform can request additional green time or reduce the wait for the next green signal, helping delayed buses recover time while limiting disruption to cross traffic.

 LAVTA plans to expand signal priority support from its current 20 equipped buses to its full 68-bus fleet, giving the agency more flexibility in vehicle assignments while preserving the benefits riders see on the Rapid corridors.
