CalAct awards Wash. paratransit for rural program

Bremerton, Wash.-based non-profit company Paratransit Services received the Outstanding Rural Program Award, presented at this year’s annual CalACT Spring Conference and Expo Awards Program in San Diego.

 

The award was presented by CalACT Chairman George Sparks to Mark Wall, transit manager of Lake Transit Authority (LTA), during the Awards Program luncheon on March 18. Representing Paratransit Services at the ceremony were David Baker, president/CEO; Christie Scheffer, chief operating officer; and Darlene Riley, chief financial officer.

Paratransit Services has been under contract with LTA since July 2007 to operate the public transit system in Lake County. Working from an operations facility in the town of Lower Lake, Calif., approximately 100 miles north of San Francisco on the upper edge of Napa Valley, Paratransit Services’ staff manages daily operations of Lake Transit.

 

In existence since 1984, CalACT is a California statewide, non-profit professional organization that represents the interests of small, rural and specialized transportation providers. The Outstanding Rural Program Award honors a rural transportation program that has demonstrated exceptional achievement in the areas of safety, operations, customer service, financial management, community relations, policy and administration.
