Coach operator offers Katrina devastation tour
Gray Line New Orleans will operate informative tour with ‘utmost sensitivity.’
On Jan. 4, Gray Line New Orleans will begin offering a "Hurricane Katrina Tour — America's Worst Catastrophe!" to give passengers an idea of the destruction caused by the now infamous storm that hit on Aug. 29.
According to the company’s Website, “the tour was created in an attempt to accurately inform visitors from around the world as to the factors contributing to this cataclysmic event.”
Participants will learn how oil and gas pipelines, man-made levee protection and the “disappearing coastline” combined to create the massive hurricane destruction.
Motorcoaches will take passengers on a three-hour route that passes ravaged neighborhoods, the Louisiana Superdome and damaged levees that caused flooding in the city.
Gray Line Vice President Greg Hoffman, who lost his home during the storm, said the tour will be operated with utmost sensitivity to residents affected by Katrina.
