Cubic receives three L.A. operator contracts
Culver City Bus, Santa Clarita Transit and the City of Torrance signed contracts with Cubic, worth almost $4 million, to provide fareboxes that accept smart cards.
Cubic Transportation Systems Inc. will provide smart card ticketing systems to three L.A. County municipal bus operators joining the system that Cubic is delivering to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority. The three bus operators -- Culver City Bus, Santa Clarita Transit and the City of Torrance -- signed contracts with Cubic worth almost $4 million to provide fareboxes that accept smart cards. The fareboxes to be delivered to the regional bus operators will be integrated with Cubic's core contactless smart card technology, including the Tri-Reader(R), which will provide system compatibility among all the participating agencies. The smart card system, to be completed in 2005, will enable riders to use one card to ride many of the region's major transit services, including subway, bus and light rail systems.
