DaimlerChrysler reorganizes bus business
Setra, Orion and Thomas were integrated into new division.
DaimlerChrysler reorganized its North American bus business to include Setra, Orion and Thomas Built into one division. The DaimlerChrysler Commercial Buses North America division will be headquartered in Greensboro, N.C. and consist of Setra highway coaches, Orion transit buses and Thomas commercial buses. Orion and Thomas were previously integrated under Freightliner LLC, DaimlerChrysler's North American commercial vehicle division. The Thomas school bus business will remain with Freightliner. The Thomas CL and SLF series will now fall under the Orion brand. Selected Thomas dealers will support sales activities of the Orion CL and SLF series. Andreas Strecker was appointed president of the division. Patrick Scully is CEO of Setra North America, Rick Solon is CEO of Orion Bus Industries and Tony Domabyl is CEO of Thomas-Dennis Co.
