MV Transportation Inc. was awarded a $540 million, eight-year contract by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority to operate its MetroAccess demand-response service. MV has the opportunity to earn up to $6 million in bonuses over the first four years by meeting performance and customer service goals. The contract, the largest in MV's history, includes plans to install cameras on 255 vehicles to help improve driver training and to monitor operations. Additional technologies to be installed include Trapeze's scheduling system, mobile data computers, as well as technology that allows users to call or log on to the Internet to automatically book reservations or check on vehicle location.
