NEW YORK — Bronx Times reported that the Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corp. plans to install “listening stations” at stops on the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s elevated subway line in the Bronx to honor the borough’s rich musical history.
Speakers will be embedded into an overhanging canopy and will play music curated by the Bronx Music Heritage Center at the first initial stop in February.
Additionally, the stops, designed by the Design Trust for Public Space, will be outfitted with lights to brighten the waiting area, and riders will be able to read about the borough’s musical history on plaques attached to the shelters. For the full story, click here.
