Pa.-based Lebanon Transit (LT) is launching a new campaign encouraging Lebanon County residents to “break up with their cars” and discover all the benefits public transit has to offer. To help residents who’ve never tried transit get their first bus experience, LT is offering a free round-trip bus pass for new riders, good on any LT bus route on any Tuesday from now until June 30.

“We know it’s hard for people to break their normal travel routines and try something new, whether it’s the commute to work, shopping or daily errands,” said Theresa Giurintano, executive director, LT. “With this campaign, we really wanted to reach out to those people who’ve never experienced public transit and show them how convenient and easy it is to take the bus on a typical weekday, as well as all the amenities we have to offer.”

The campaign, “The Break Up,” will be featured on radio, billboards and road signs along major highways in Lebanon County, March through June.

In addition, LT is encouraging current riders to spread the word about how convenient, comfortable and affordable public transit is by signing up a friend for a free Tuesday. Current riders who refer new riders are eligible for a prize drawing.

Commuter Services of Pennsylvania, a non-profit organization that works with employers and commuters to encourage non-single occupant vehicle transportation options, such as bus transit, is also partnering with LT to spread the word with Lebanon area employers.

Commuter Services will be reaching out to interested businesses to demonstrate how they can take advantage of simple and cost-effective options to help recruit and retain workers, reduce taxes, limit parking costs or meet other business goals through congestion reduction strategies.
