The Santa Monica (Calif.) Big Blue Bus (BBB) is extending its current Trapeze enterprise system to include a comprehensive transit asset management solution to better track and maintain its fleet.

BBB passengers and employees have been benefiting from Trapeze intelligent transportation systems and back office software solutions for several years. The Trapeze transit EAM solution tracks all functions related to the strategic management of BBB's vehicles and equipment, including preventive maintenance, inspection, and repairs scheduling and management, tracking and analysis of asset-based key performance indicators, and, capture and management of whole life cycle operating costs and statistics (e.g. fuel, oil, licensing, downtime analysis, failure analysis).

The equipment management module is a comprehensive, browser-based enterprise asset management solution capable of tracking an unlimited number of equipment units, components, and sub-components. The EAM module also tracks all of BBB's functions related to the management and maintenance of their transit infrastructure, including stops and stations, offices, maintenance facilities, revenue equipment, communications gear, stationary equipment and/or I.T. assets.

"Trapeze transit EAM will help increase our operational capacity and efficiency," said Patrick Campbell, Chief Operations Officer at Big Blue Bus. "This software will automate updates to our maintenance system and help us ensure we are servicing our vehicles on a timely basis. Big Blue Bus chose Trapeze software because of their commitment to seamless integration to our other systems, even as we grow and implement new solutions."

The Trapeze EAM solution is just one component of the Trapeze transit enterprise offering. The solution is integrated with Trapeze's fixed route scheduling, ITS and Operations products. As part of Trapeze's 360-degree vision, the solution can also be integrated with BBB's other reporting applications and data sources.

BBB operates a fleet of over 200 energy-efficient vehicles transporting more than 70,000 riders daily across a nearly 52-square mile service area.
