Cheryle Tyson joined HNTB Corp. as a national transit/rail consultant. She is based in the firm’s Plano, Texas office, focusing on advancing growth of HNTB’s profile in the transit industry while providing strategic advice to the firm’s transit team and clients nationwide.

Tyson has more than 30 years of design, project and program management experience in the public sector. She has spent the previous 22 years with Federal Transit Administration Region 6 in Fort Worth, Texas, as regional engineer.

Cheryle Tyson has more than 30 years of design, project and program management experience in the public sector.

At FTA, her responsibilities included engineering review of grants, grant management, oversight of three Project Management Oversight Contractors and attendance at oversight reviews. She saw multiple complex projects from grant implementation to completion of construction, including Tulsa Downtown Transit Center, McAllen Intermodal Center, Waco Intermodal Center, Waco Admin and Maintenance Facility, Albuquerque Alvarado Intermodal Center, and Oklahoma City Downtown Transit Center.

Additionally, while at FTA, Tyson provided oversight for Capital Investment Grant projects, all of which were delivered on time or early, and within budget and scope. Her CIG projects included: Little Rock River Rail Streetcar; Dallas Area Rapid Transit Green Line; DART Orange Line Phase 2 and 3; Houston METRO North Corridor Light Rail Extension; Houston METRO Southeast Light Rail; Dallas Streetcar; Albuquerque Rapid Transit Project; and Uptown Dedicated Bus Lanes (Houston).
