TransLoc, a provider of transit technology, along with partners Uber and the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA), are launching a pilot of the TransLoc Rider mobile app with Uber in Memphis.

TransLoc Rider helps people get to and from the bus stop with ease, making transit more accessible. The mobile app takes the headache out of planning multi-modal trips by providing passengers with the best options.

One of the biggest barriers to taking public transportation for many is the distance to and from a stop. With TransLoc Rider it’s simple. Users enter their destination to get the best route, one that combines walking, transit and Uber. The app makes the experience seamless; it even hails and books the Uber from within the Rider app.

The pilot will boost public transit usage and attract new riders to MATA.

According to a recently released report from APTA and the Shared Use Mobility Center, the more that people use shared modes of transportation the more likely they are to use transit. Services like Uber complement public transit and TransLoc Rider makes it easier for riders to access fixed-service routes using Uber by removing the complexities of trip planning.

TransLoc and Uber are currently running two pilots of TransLoc Rider with Uber. The first pilot was launched in Durham, NC with GoTriangle on March 3rd. TransLoc is recruiting beta testers for both pilots.

The TransLoc Rider app is available for download in the iOS App Store or on Google Play.
