Trillium wins Calif. CNG contract
Added fuel stations will serve 425-bus fleet.
The board of the Orange County (Calif.) Transportation Authority (OCTA) voted to award Salt Lake City-based Trillium a contract for the design, installation and maintenance of two Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling facilities.
The award follows the completion of a CNG fueling station at OCTA's Santa Ana Bus Base.
The board authorized up to $24.1 million for the construction of facilities as well as 10 years of operation and maintenance. The project will allow about 175 CNG buses to operate at the agency's Anaheim and Garden Grove Bus Bases, in addition to the fleet of 250 planned for Santa Ana, making OCTA one of the largest natural gas transit bus fleets in the country.
Trillium's fueling systems will include three Ariel compressors at each facility, which will be capable of fueling three buses at a time, with fuel times of no more than five minutes per bus.
