Paul Wiedefeld joined HDR as director of the firm’s transportation practice in the Northeast U.S.

Wiedefeld brings four decades of transportation industry experience with half of those years as the CEO of major aviation and transit agencies. As HDR’s Northeast transportation director, he will provide leadership across 14 states from Virginia to Maine, plus the District of Columbia.

Based in Baltimore, Wiedefeld will help set HDR’s transportation strategy in the region and expand the firm’s diverse service lines throughout the Northeast. His responsibilities will also include overseeing the planning and delivery of major regional initiatives and projects for HDR’s transit, aviation, highways, bridges, freight rail, and maritime clients.

With experience at the local, regional, and state levels in the public sector, as well as over a decade of private sector experience, Wiedefeld has an in-depth understanding of the complex operational and policy challenges facing HDR’s transportation clients. Wiedefeld most recently spent seven years as GM/CEO of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, also known as the DC Metro. Prior to that role, he served as the CEO in charge of Baltimore/Washington International airport.
