SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento Regional Transit (RT) Board of Directors passed a new set of rules Monday night that kicks people off of RT buses and trains who become a public nuisance. The rules passed without the noxious odor portion, with members saying it was too subjective, SF Gate reported.
Before the vote, the potential ban against certain riders, especially those who smell bad, was creating a big backlash — especially from homeless advocates.
RT spokesperson Alane Masui said the new rules, which are based on customer input, will go into effect immediately. The new rules define public nuisances as riders playing loud music or people without shoes, according to SF Gate. For the full story, click here.
