Latinos In Transit (LIT) is inviting public and private transit and transportation organizations to submit proposals to host its 2027 Leadership Summit, the nonprofit’s flagship annual event focused on workforce development, mentorship, networking, and leadership advancement within the transit industry.
Since its founding in 2016, LIT has worked to empower transit professionals by creating pathways to leadership through education, professional development, and industry engagement. The annual Leadership Summit has become a premier gathering for transit leaders and emerging professionals, offering opportunities to share best practices, build meaningful connections, and inspire the next generation of industry talent.
The 2027 Summit is expected to attract more than 400 attendees from across the country, including LIT members, partners, and supporters. The host organization will receive extensive visibility before, during, and after the event, including featured placement in Summit marketing and promotional campaigns. The host will also have the opportunity to showcase major transit projects, services, or infrastructure through technical tours and other conference activities.
According to an LIT release, in addition to elevating the host organization’s profile among transit professionals nationwide, the event is expected to generate economic benefits for the local community through increased visitor spending and engagement with local businesses.
LIT traditionally holds its Leadership Summit in September during Hispanic Heritage Month and is seeking a destination with strong public transportation access and shared mobility options. The organization is requesting letters of interest and formal proposals from agencies and organizations interested in serving as the 2027 host.
At a minimum, proposals must include:
- A letter of interest from the CEO, general manager, or designee.
- Historical narrative and background on the interested organization(s).
- Sponsorship details, including monetary and/or in-kind contributions with estimated values.
- A destination overview, including accessibility and hospitality offerings.
- Information on the nearest airport and local transit services.
- Optional information regarding previous experience hosting or sponsoring large-scale conferences or events.
The selected host organization will be announced during the 2026 LIT Leadership Summit, scheduled for September 11, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio.
Proposals are due July 27, 2026, and should be submitted to c.villarreal@latinosintransit.org.
