One county in Florida is hoping to help connect communities along the Florida East Coast Railway corridor with their upcoming rail project.

Gathering Public Feedback

BCT hosted two public meetings, one in person in Pompano Beach and another virtually, to present the project’s vison, hear from residents, and ensure the community remains at the heart of the initiative.

Over 125 attendees participated, demonstrating strong local interest in expanding commuter rail service in Broward County.

Residents shared valuable input on the project’s impact, station locations, and integration with existing infrastructure. BCT encourages public engagement and welcomes feedback through social media and the PREMO website.

Initial Project Plans

BCR North is a 15.5 mile corridor with proposed stations in Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park, Pompano Beach, and Deerfield Beach.

The corridor is designed to provide a seamless and reliable transit option and aims to support economic growth, enhance commuting options, and create a more sustainable future.

BCR North will make travel across the region more convenient by integrating with existing transit systems including Brightline and Tri-Rail.

"Bringing commuter rail to northern Broward County is a game-changer for our residents and workforce," said Coree Cuff Lonergan, CEO/General Manager of Broward County Transit. "BCR North is about more than just transportation-it's about expanding opportunities, improving connectivity, and enhancing the quality of life for our community. Hearing from our residents ensures we are building a system that meets their needs."

BCT remains committed to keeping the community informed and involved through the planning process. The BCR North project is a step toward a more connected and efficient transportation network for Broward County.
