TRC Teams With Northfield Lines to Launch On-Demand Services

The Routing Company (TRC) launched a new partnership with Northfield Lines to deliver responsive on-demand shuttle services in Northfield and Dundas, Minn.

Launched in April 2025, the shuttles serve students and staff across St. Olaf College and Carleton College, with plans to also serve additional corporate campuses.

The partnership is a significant step forward in TRC’s mission to enhance mobility for educational institutions and corporate campuses, offering flexible, efficient, and cost-effective transportation options.

The service leverages TRC’s Pingo platform, which includes the Drive Pingo and Ride Pingo apps and the Pingo Dashboard operations tool, and has powered over two million trips to date, helping agencies and organizations deliver efficient, flexible, and scalable transit services.

The service provides on-demand and scheduled transit on corporate and college campuses using vans to enhance mobility for students, staff, and corporate clients with the initial focus on enhancing mobility for essential trips such as medical appointments, pharmacy visits, and local volunteering opportunities.

RTA Approves WeGo Bus Contract with Anchor Transportation

The Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee (RTA) approved a measure for WeGo to enter into a new contract with Anchor Transportation for regional bus service.

RTA anticipates that Anchor Transportation’s approach will enhance service reliability, improve rider confidence, and ultimately support increased ridership across the network.

Anchor has more than 35 years of experience in contracted shuttle and charter operations, including more than 12 years of experience operating similar contracts with the State of Tennessee.

The transition marks the conclusion of RTA’s longstanding partnership with Gray Line, which has provided regional commuter services for well over a decade. This change in bus operations does not impact the RTA’s existing agreement with Gray Line to lease facilities at Riverfront Station, according to the agency.

Now, Token Transit users can avoid ever paying more than the cost of a monthly pass via fare capping. Fare capping allows riders to purchase and use single ride passes with the app, with an automatic upgrade to a monthly pass when their spending total during the month reaches the cost of a monthly pass.

Capital Transit will continue to offer the ability to pay with cash on the bus, or to purchase paper monthly unlimited passes at existing locations.
