Drunk driver strikes NJ TRANSIT bus

The vehicle drove into the bus around 2 a.m., with the badly injured driver of the car trying to flee on foot before being arrested at a nearby gas station. The driver’s blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit, according to the report.

Americans support gas tax hike, spending revenue on public transit, survey says

One of the proposed federal bills, H.R. 1846, would index the gas tax to inflation and create a bi-partisan, bi-cameral transportation commission that would provide long-term funding of the Highway Trust Fund. Another proposed bill, H.R. 680, would increase the gas tax by five cents per year for three years.

New York City's Second Avenue Subway will be the first major expansion of the subway system in over 50 years. When fully completed, the line will stretch 8.5 miles along the length of Manhattan's East Side, from 125th Street in Harlem to Hanover Square in Lower Manhattan. In addition, a track connection to the existing 63rd Street and Broadway Lines will allow a second subway line to provide direct service from East Harlem and the Upper East Side to West Midtown via the Broadway express tracks.
