Alstom to supply 79 intercity trains to Netherlands rail
The trains, equipped with Wi-Fi, LED lighting and real-time passenger information systems, provide access for a quick passenger flow.

Alstom has been awarded a contract worth over $886 million to supply 791 Intercity New Generation trains to Netherlands national railway operator, NS.The trains, which can reach a maximum speed of 124 mph, will begin delivery January 2020. They will run on the national network on the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Breda line and on the Den Haag-Eindhoven corridor.
Integrating the latest technologies, the new intercity trains, feature spacious and well-lit multi-purpose areas for reading, resting, wheelchairs and bicycles, as well as dedicated restrooms for people with reduced mobility. The trains, equipped with Wi-Fi, LED lighting and real-time passenger information systems, provide access for a quick passenger flow. All coaches, outfitted with security cameras to increase passenger and crew safety, meet the highest standards for interoperability and will be equipped with ATB and ERTMS systems. The trains are able to operate on 25KV AC (high-speed line) and 1,5 KV DC (main railway network).
The new intercity trains for NS belong to Alstom’s Coradia range of modular trains with a proven service track record of more than 16 years, according to the company.
The trains are designed and developed in Saint-Ouen (France) and Salzgitter (Germany) by an international team of experts of six different nationalities and will be manufactured in Alstom’s site in Katowice (Poland).
