Next month, Amtrak will allow riders in an East Coast cafe car to watch movies and TV shows, check e-mail or shop online using interactive touch screens. The screens allow passengers to connect to the Internet using a high-speed wireless network. The Keystone Line, which the car will run on, has stops in Harrisburg (Pa.), Pennsylvania and New York. Passengers will be able to select a variety of movies and programs. NRoute Communications, the company providing the wireless network, is installing and maintaining the equipment at no cost to Amtrak. The railroad will get a small share of ad revenue. A $155,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will pay for the wiring of the railcar.
