Apollo Video Technology introduced two new mobile video surveillance offerings at the APTA 2012 Annual Meeting and exhibition, September 30 to October 3 in Seattle.

A new high-resolution front-view mobile video surveillance camera, manufactured specifically for mass transit and rail vehicles, captures activity from the bus operator’s forward facing view through the windshield. A ruggedized high-resolution display monitor, offering passengers multiple views of on-board camera feeds, was also  introduced at the exhibit. These new products are designed to enhance the RoadRunner mobile video surveillance systems, and allow transit agency officials and supervisors to implement technology that provides full surveillance coverage while strengthening public safety initiatives.
 
The new ruggedized front-view color camera is designed to deliver uninterrupted recordings despite the harsh conditions of the transportation environment. The highly-adjustable casing is adaptable for optimal placement and recording camera views in any type of transit vehicle. A vari-focal lens and 600 TV lines of resolution guarantee a wide viewing range and superior image quality. This camera view is critical for obtaining accurate video evidence, lending to timely investigations and ultimately protecting the safety of passengers and operator liability.
 
Apollo Video’s 17-inch display monitor, mounted in a location viewable by all boarding passengers, emphasizes the presence of surveillance equipment to help promote a transit agency’s dedication to public safety. Ruggedized and vandal-resistant, the monitor is a transit-grade product designed to withstand the rigors of a mobile application.
 
These new additions to the RoadRunner system are recommended for retrofit and new installations for all types of transit, paratransit and passenger rail vehicles.
