APTA honors public transportation leaders
Awards part of association's annual meeting.
Cal Marsella, GM for the Denver-based Regional Transportation District (RTD), was presented with the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Outstanding Public Transportation Manager award at its annual conference on Oct. 10 in San Jose, Calif. The yearly award honors a public transportation manager who has made outstanding contributions to the industry. Other top award winners include Dwight D. Brashear, CEO/GM of the Capital Area Transit System in Baton Rouge, La., who was honored with a one-time Special Award for Extraordinary Leadership for his work as the evacuation coordinator in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Additionally, GFI-GENFARE founder Dan Reichard, Jr., was inducted in the APTA Hall of Fame for his pioneering work in the field of high-tech fare collection. Other Hall of Fame inductees were H. Welton Flynn, Louis L. Heil and Shirley DeLibero.
