Walead Atiyeh joined HNTB Corp.’s national rail systems team as project manager. He is based in the firm’s Santa Ana, Calif., office and currently supports the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.  

Atiyeh has more than 17 years of experience in construction and engineering projects, focused on transit and rail systems. His diverse skill set includes strategic management, planning, estimating, sourcing and project implementation. Additionally, Atiyeh brings significant leadership experience, having spent much of his career overseeing multidisciplinary teams.

“Walead has a proven ability to oversee and deliver a variety of complex projects, drawing upon his extensive leadership capabilities,” said Ian Choudri, HNTB national rail and transit business development director and senior vice president. “His skills will help our clients advance their programs and achieve their fundamental vision to improve mobility by ensuring easy access, convenience and safety for riders.”

Prior to joining HNTB, Atiyeh worked on several high-profile rail projects, including the I-255 Light Rail Project for the Regional Transportation District in Denver, where he was the systems manager through design and construction.

He also served on the Denver Union Station Redevelopment Project for RTD and the Colorado Department of Transportation, RTD’s Denver Transportation Expansion Project, and Sound Transit Link Light Rail.

Additionally, Atiyeh has extensive experience with numerous transit and rail disciplines, including transit systems integration, train communication construction, and project engineering and controls.
