Each year, BAE’s low- and zero-emission products are travelling more than 330 million miles, transporting more than one billion people to their jobs, school, or activities.

BAE Systems reached a major milestone with the delivery of its 10,000th electric drive system into transit service as part of its contract with transit bus manufacturer, Nova Bus, fulfilling orders for Toronto Transit Commission.

“With more environmentally conscious riders, the public transit industry is shifting toward more electric products," said Stephen Trichka, VP and GM for BAE Systems’ Power & Propulsion Systems business. “Toronto recently purchased 255 of our next generation electric-drive systems, joining cities such as San Francisco, Boston, London, and Paris who are using our eco-friendly systems to help meet clean air initiatives.”

Further recognizing the movement towards full electric propulsion and the varying challenges transit operator’s experience, BAE Systems brings an array of electrification products to help transition transit bus agencies more successfully and according to their operational needs, budgets, and ability to accept risk. The company’s products range from electric accessories on a conventional drivetrain to battery electric and fuel cell electric propulsion.

Each year, BAE’s low- and zero-emission products are travelling more than 330 million miles, transporting more than one billion people to their jobs, school, or activities. Subsequently, these systems are saving 22 million gallons of fuel and preventing more than 250,000 tons of CO2 annually which equates to taking 42,000 cars off the road or planting five million trees.
