N.M. agency adding 2 Proterra electric buses, chargers
Atomic City Transit in Los Alamos, N.M., will purchase two Proterra Catalyst® 35-foot E2 buses and two Proterra® 125 kW plug-in charging systems. Atomic City Transit is Proterra’s first customer in New Mexico, increasing Proterra’s reach into 43 U.S. states and Canadian provinces with more than 100 customers.
Atomic City Transit offers transit service in both Los Alamos and White Rock and provides an average of over 545,000 annual passenger trips. Los Alamos received $1.485 million through the Low or No Emission Grant Program to purchase new zero-emission battery-electric buses and chargers to replace the city's existing diesel fleet. The Proterra electric buses will be used on the downtown route.

MCI delivers 2020 J4500 to Calif.'s Royal Coach

San Jose, Calif.-based Royal Coach is recognizing its 60th anniversary, as well as celebrating the delivery of a 2020 MCI J4500 motorcoach.
The 2020 J4500 offers the new, next-generation, lighter weight Cummins X12 engine and a new e-Fan system for even greater gains in fuel economy. Royal added such optional amenities as power outlets at every seat, customized interior lighting for groups and special branding, and MCI’s latest Advance Driver Assistance System package to assist drivers on the road with the most advanced collision mitigation technology available in today’s motor coach industry.
Royal Coach has served the Bay Area since 1960 and now operates a fleet of 97 vehicles by offering nationally known service and innovative transportation solutions. In 1999, Royal Coach pioneered now-common employee transportation coach service in the Silicon Valley to help a major employer cut the use of cars. Royal Coach Tours gives daily rides to thousands of this client’s employees from several pick-up locations around the Bay Area, dedicating 50 of its 97 coaches to the service.
The new facility will augment the current Metro Bus Transit Center and overall system as part of new routes and service improvements known as Metro Bus Forward.
