As construction moves forward on the E Street Corridor sbX bus rapid transit (BRT) project, California-based Omnitrans re-launched the project's website to include a completely new interface that will help inform the public about the 15.7-mile construction project between the cities of San Bernardino and Loma Linda.

With a new look that incorporates social media, the re-launched website takes on a new user-friendly platform that allows residents and businesses to quickly and easily access information specific to their needs.

In the coming months, website content will evolve as specific details about the timing and location of construction becomes available in November 2011. To get this information, a subscribe button on the homepage easily allows the public to start receiving the project newsletter, news releases and announcements for upcoming public outreach activities. This will include a monthly business stakeholder forum that gives the public an opportunity to meet regularly with the construction management team to address questions.

To help keep the public informed about real-time construction updates, Omnitrans also launched a new sbX Twitter handle. The sbX Twitter feed is accessible directly on the new website and will provide up-to-date construction alerts, tips on navigating through construction zones, and providing interesting and relevant overall project information.

In addition, Omnitrans has created a Flickr page for the sbX project that will feature photos of construction as it happens, giving residents and business owners an up close, behind the scenes look at construction and what it might look like when it comes to their neighborhood. This will include station, roadway, and park-and-ride construction photos, public art images, and event photos.
