Chicago Transit names Rodriguez president
Board also approved the appointment of Karen Walker as treasurer for CTA. In addition to her duties as treasurer, Walker will also assume the position of chief financial officer.
On Wednesday, the Chicago Transit Board appointed Richard L. Rodriguez as president of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA).
Most recently, Rodriguez served as commissioner for the Chicago Department of Aviation. In his extensive city government experience, Rodriguez has earned a reputation as a strong and creative manager and also served as commissioner of the Department of Buildings and executive director of the Department of Construction and Permits.
“I appreciate the support expressed by the Chicago Transit Board,” said Rodriguez. “The CTA is a vital resource for this region and it is important that we continue focusing on improving the quality of service we provide. Even in these challenging economic times, we have to find ways to manage and deliver services more efficiently.”
Rodriguez replaces Ron Huberman who was named CEO of Chicago Public Schools in January.
