CTTransit adds hybrids to supervisor fleet
The vehicles replaced non-hybrid vehicles, some almost 10 years old and most with well over 100,000 miles on them. These new hybrids will get 20 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway, improving the fuel economy of the entire Supervisor fleet. They are an addition to the two Prius hybrid automobiles already in use by the Hartford Division.
Recently, CTTransit put 16 new Ford Escape Hybrid Supervisor vehicles into service throughout the Hartford, New Haven and Stamford divisions.

CTTransit has had two 40-foot hybrid-electric buses operating since 2003 in Hartford. A recent addition of 14 40-foot hybrid-electric buses and 17 35-foot hybrid-electric buses have been operating for several months in the New Haven and Waterbury systems, respectively.
The Hartford Division is expecting a delivery of 10 articulated buses that will go out on the road by the fall. These buses will come equipped with a diesel hybrid-electric drive system. These articulated buses are in addition to the diesel-fueled articulated buses introduced in April 2011, currently operating in Stamford and New Haven.
CTTransit also has the second largest hydrogen fuel cell transit bus fleet in the country, with the agency currently working on purchasing a sixth hydrogen fuel cell bus.
