TORONTO — Arti Shivdasani is asking the Ontario Human Rights Commission to help her fight the Toronto Transit Commission, which recently told Shivdasani she no longer qualifies for door-to-door paratransit service, thestar.com reports.
In addition to her mobility challenges, Shivdasani has severe asthma and a heart condition that limit her stamina. Without paratransit service, she would have to commute to school by bus, subway and streetcar 90 minutes each way.
A transit agency official told thestar.com that about 50 people were cut off Wheel-Trans service last year because the TTC is scrutinizing more closely changes in customers’ mobility. For the full story, click here.
