ElDorado National Inc., builder of mid-size buses, recently broke ground for a new 200,000 square-foot facility in Riverside, Calif., which is expected to be operational by December of 2003. All of ElDorado's 240 current employees are expected to move to the new facility. The company also anticipates increasing its manpower by 40% once the facility is fully operational. Production demands had outgrown the current 95,000 square-foot factory, restricting future growth. New buses, including a 40-foot low-floor transit bus, have already been prototyped, tested and are ready for the new assembly line. The new facility, equipped with a first class exterior water testing system and CNG fueling station, will have its own mini-scale Altoona test track providing early detection of any quality corrections.
