LAKELAND, Fla. — Speakers at a transportation planning forum said that the area’s aging population will need improved transit in the next few decades, according to The Ledger.
A consultant with URS Corp. said at the meeting that the company analyzed the location of senior citizens in Polk County in relation to the availability of transit. He added that transportation planning for this group is important because polls show the majority of people over 65 plan to remain in their current residences, the paper reported.
