London, Ontario paratransit drivers demand living wage

LONDON, Ontario — With London’s mayor encouraging private businesses to pay employees a living wage, paratransit drivers in the city say they want the city's leadership to step up and force their employer, Voyageur Transportation Services, which is contracted by the city, to raise their salaries, CBC News reports.
The Voyageur drivers are upset about the fact they make slightly more than Ontario’s $11.25 minimum wage while the mayor is promoting a living wage of $15.50 per hour. For his part, the mayor said he has no plans to dictate the wages paid to anyone working for the city, directly or contracted. For the full story, click here.
