MBTA chief signs up to use paratransit service
GM Beverly Scott is experiencing medical issues with her left foot which will limit her mobility for about three months, and used a pseudonym when signing up for the service to avoid special treatment. Scott said that she believes she is the first GM to be certified with The Ride.
BOSTON — The Boston Globe reported that Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) GM Beverly Scott signed up to become a customer of The Ride, MBTA’s paratransit service for people with disabilities and mobility issues, after experiencing medical issues with her left foot. She is required to wear a walking boot for about three months.
Scott said at a Massachusetts Department of Transportation board meeting that she believes she is the first GM to be certified with The Ride.
She went through the typical application process, including an in-person interview, to ensure she is qualified to use the service and adopted a pseudonym to ensure she doesn’t get special treatment.
