Toronto-based transit system GO Transit has added 18 new Motor Coach Industries (MCI) D4505 Commuter Coaches as its Greater Toronto and Hamilton-area express service continues to expand.

The MCI coaches allow the agency to offer, in addition to convenience and economy, a safe, comfortable ride with plush forward-facing seats and plenty of space for baggage or carry-on items.

The Commuter Coach, built for highway speeds, offers touring class comfort and safety to public transit systems. Strong and durable, the rugged semi-monocoque structure elevates passengers and drivers above traffic. Electronic Stability Control, tire pressure monitoring and a fire suppression system provides an optimum level of reliability and safety.

The Commuter Coach offers GO Transit the lowest cost of operation and the best uptime of any bus model in the market. These new coaches additionally come equipped with the newest clean-diesel engine technology for lower emissions and better fuel economy. GO Transit added an optional Axion destination sign and an Alpha-Tron Ultra capacitor that aids in cold-weather starts.

This delivery follows GO Transit’s order of 36 MCI Commuter Coaches in 2012.  GO Transit’s fleet of 464 vehicles, 417 of which are made by MCI, carry about 37,000 riders a day.

Tauton, Mass.-based Bloom’s Bus Lines received two J4500 coaches.

Additionally, Tauton, Mass.-based Bloom’s Bus Lines received two J4500 coaches.

The coaches, delivered last month, include a redesign with a more elevated presence; eye-catching, durable LED headlamps; and a smooth rear cap for even greater curb appeal. The model’s standard safety features include electronic stability control; SmartWave tire-pressure monitoring; fire detection and suppression; and three-point passenger seat belts. Bloom’s Bus Lines added 110-volt outlets and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Bloom’s newest J4500s also feature EPA clean-diesel engine technology and powertrain enhancements for lower emissions and greater fuel efficiency.

Bloom’s Bus Lines operates a 22-coach all-MCI coach fleet that includes 14 J4500 models.
