GAITHERSBURG, Md. — TransIT, an on-demand bus service for seniors and disabled riders, has been forced to reduce service due to driver cutbacks, Gazette.Net reported. The operation is looking to fill four full-time vacant driver positions to run 16 trips daily, but with only 12 full-time drivers, they have been forced to cut back to 13 or 14 trips a day.
In an effort to save taxpayer dollars, Frederick County told TransIT they cannot offer health care benefits, holiday pay and sick leave with the positions. For the full story, click here.
