Oakland, Calif.-based AC Transit and BART announced that they will use Measure B funds to implement new projects over the next two years.

The new projects include the installation of mobile computers and global positioning systems on all East Bay Paratransit vehicles; special software that will call the rider with the vehicle's expected arrival time; and a graphic book describing "how to ride BART" that will assist seniors and individuals with disabilities who can still use the system, at least some of the time.

Another project also funded by Measure B and already in place, is a "rider care specialist" who works with individuals, agencies and caregivers to solve difficult transportation issues.

Measure B, a half-cent transportation sales tax approved by Alameda  County voters through 2022, funds about 25 percent of the operating budget for the ADA programs at AC Transit and BART.
