Mobility Ventures LLC, designer and manufacturer of the MV-1, the only American vehicle designed from the ground up in support of people who use wheelchairs, presented a brand new wheelchair accessible vehicle to Catholic Charities Fort Worth, Monday, May 4th, during APTA's 2015 Bus & Paratransit Conference.

The event highlighted the leadership role of the State of Texas and the Federal Transit Administration in expanding accessible transportation options, and recognized Catholic Charities Fort Worth for its dedication to providing service to those in need, according to the company. 

"Today, Mobility Ventures was happy to donate a wheelchair-accessible MV-1 to Catholic Charities of Fort Worth. We are honored to help this wonderful organization accomplish its mission of serving those in need," said Mobility Ventures officials.

In attendance at the special event, were Mary Leary, Division Chief, Rural and Targeted Programs Office of Transit Programs, Federal Transit Administration; Heather Griffith, Chairwoman of Fort Worth Mayor's Committee on Persons with Disabilities; Heather Reynolds, President and CEO of Catholic Charities Fort Worth; Howard Glaser, Mobility Ventures President; Rosa Navejar, APTA Executive Committee & Rios Group President; and Kristina Rhoades, Mobility Ventures Marketing/PR Specialist. 

Mobility Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary of American vehicle manufacturer AM General, is breaking new barriers with its MV-1 line of vehicles. The MV-1 is the only vehicle that is “purpose-built” for people with disabilities. Unlike many vans that are converted for accessibility, the MV-1 has a side-entry electronic ramp and allows passengers to sit in the front of the vehicle next to the driver, with additional room in back for another wheelchair and extra passengers.
