North American Bus Industries (NABI) unveiled its new, low-floor model 42-BRT stylized transit bus Monday. The 42-foot vehicle was one of many on display at the American Public Transportation Association's Bus and Paratransit Conference in Anaheim, Calif. Actual length of the vehicle is 42.5 feet, which allows for an additional four seats over the standard 40-foot bus. The prototype vehicle is powered by a CAT C9 diesel engine and conventional Allison B400R transmission. The 42-BRT will also lend itself easily to hybrid or CNG propulsion, with hybrid equipment or CNG tanks completely concealed in the roof cavity. Features include frameless windows and full-height door glazing on the slide-glide exit door.
