New Flyer, MCI name Joseph, Dewsnup, Smart to lead business units

New Flyer Industries Inc. announced that effective January 1, 2017, Wayne Joseph becomes president, Transit Bus Business and Brian Dewsnup becomes president, Aftermarket Parts Business for both New Flyer and MCI.

Joseph currently executive VP Bus has become president of the Transit Bus business unit. He joined New Flyer in 2008 and prior to that held executive positions in bus manufacturing for over thirty years with NABI, Blue Bird Body Co. and Flxible, and at BAE Systems.

The company also announced the combination of the New Flyer and MCI aftermarket parts businesses under Dewsnup. Currently VP and GM of the MCI aftermarket business, he will become president of the combined New Flyer and MCI aftermarket parts businesses. Dewsnup was previously the CFO of North American Bus Industries (NABI) which was acquired by New Flyer in 2013. Prior to that Brian served as Controller of Johns Manville's Waterville operations — a Berkshire Hathaway Co., and held various finance capacities at Ford Motor Co. and Visteon Corp.

Ian Smart

Additionally, effective January 1, 2017, Ian Smart, currently executive VP, Aftermarket of New Flyer, becomes president, Motor Coach Business of MCI.

Smart joined New Flyer in 2011 from StandardAero one of the largest independent aviation repair and overhaul companies in the world.  At StandardAero Ian held various executive positions such as VP Corporate Strategy, VP Marketing & Business Development, and VP of StandardAero’s largest Business Unit.


Brian Dewsnup

To build MCI’s customer focus, Smart will be responsible for all aspects of motor coach design, engineering, purchasing, sales and marketing, production and operations including the direction of service and support. Formerly managed within MCI aftermarket business, the six MCI service centers, field service teams, warranty and the technical call center, which assists operators, technicians and drivers around the clock, will now be managed by the original equipment manufacturer (“OEM”) side of MCI.
