WEST TOLEDO, Ohio — The Blade reported that Toledo Area Regional Paratransit Service (TARPS) drivers Maureen Wilcheck and Lora Brooks teamed up to find an 80-year-old parishoner who had gone missing after church services.

The man’s niece boarded Wilcheck’s bus to see if he had climbed aboard. Wilcheck put out a radio call to other TARPS drivers in the area. Within minutes, Brooks spotted the man, who has a memory impairment and has been identified only by his first name, Thomas, sitting near a bus stop with two strangers.

James Gee, the GM for Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority, under which TARPS operates, told The Blade agency officials are discussing possible commendations for Brooks and Wilcheck to recognize their actions. For the full story, click here.
