Oregon's TriMet budget calls for fare increase

There will be no service cuts for the first time in three years.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Earlier this week, TriMet unveiled its $434 million budget for the fiscal year 2012, which includes a proposal for a five-cent fare increase and a $4 increase for monthly passes for adult fares, according to Fox 12.

While all other fixed-route cash fares would remain unchanged, TriMet is also proposing a $1 increase for youth monthly passes and 40 cent increase for LIFT paratransit trips, as well as the discontinuation of monthly passes for the service; however, there will be no service cuts for the first time in three years.
